Welcome to the 2021 Southwest Popular/American Culture Association Conference!

It’s been a full year since last we met in Albuquerque, and while we can’t be together in New Mexico this year, we are pleased to be hosting SWPACA virtually.  Many elements of this year’s conference will seem unfamiliar, but we trust that some things will remain the same: insightful research, stimulating conversations, new connections, and ideas for future Southwest PCA presentations.

We have extended the conference program to begin on Monday and conclude on Saturday, and we hope that your schedule will allow you to attend sessions throughout the week. Our special events this year include social events as well as a range of Professional Development sessions. We would like to extend a special invitation to the Peter C. Rollins Book Award & Student Awards Ceremony, to be held on Thursday, 02/25, from 1:00-2:30 pm, which will include the Keynote address by Syndey Ladensohn Stern, winner of the 2020 Rollins Book Award for her book The Brothers Mankiewicz: Hope, Heartbreak, and Hollywood Classics (University Press of Mississippi).

Thank you, speakers and attendees at this conference. We are grateful for your continued interest in the Southwest PCA organization, and we appreciate your flexibility in approaching the 2021 conference. We trust that the week will be both enjoyable and rewarding, and that you’ll have opportunity to join us again next year.

Enjoy your time at the conference this week.  Stop by the Virtual Information Table and introduce yourselves to the Executive Team. We would like to hear about your experiences at this year’s conference, and we look forward to spending the week with you.
